Chapter 3. Using Configuration Software and Utilities
3.1 Using the EFI Boot Manager
The EFI boot manager allows you to control the server booting environment. After power
on, the boot manager activates the server according to boot option settings. For example,
the user can boot the EFI shell, an operating system on the network or on media in the
server, or go to the boot maintenance menu.
The EFI Shell is a simple and interactive environment that can load EFI device drivers,
start EFI applications, and boot operating systems. The EFI Shell also provides a series
of commands that are used to manage files and system environment variables. For

Boot Options: Files used as boot options. The Boot Maintenance Menu allows you to
add and delete boot options. Each boot option specifies an EFI executable with
available options. For further details, refer to

Boot Maintenance Menu: These items allow you to set boot options and other boot
environment variables.
To activate the Boot Maintenance Menu, in the "EFI boot manager" window, select
"Boot Option Maintenance Menu" then press <Enter>.
