3.3.2 Formatting a SATA HDD with the diskpart Utility

On the NovaScale 3045 COMPACT, the formatting of a SATA HDD is performed using the

dispart Utility. To format a SATA HDD, take the following steps:

1. Download the dispart Utility at the following URL

http://www.intel.com/technology/efi/diskutil_overview.htm,

then copy the dispart.efi file on to an USB memory key.

2. Install one SATA hard disc to be formatted in Slot 0 and one HDD filler in Slot 1.

3. Connect the USB memory key to the server, then boot the system to EFI

4. Search for the diskpart.efi file on to the USB memory key, then launch the diskpart

utility.

5. When the diskpart has started, have the disk list shown with the list command, and

then select a disk number to format with the select command.
